align=\"right\"><i>Commencement<\/i>: 15 December, 1905.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<b>An Act relating to public ferries.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"L8\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Level-Iblue\"><a>{mprestriction ids=&#8221;1,2,3&#8243;}<\/a><\/p>\n<p>ame=&#8221;Ch355s1&#8243;&gt;1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Interpretation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In this Act, except where the context otherwise requires, <b>&#8220;boat&#8221;<\/b> means any vessel which is not a ship as defined for the purposes of the Inland Water Transport (Control) Act.<\/p>\n<p class=\"L8\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Level-Iblue\"><a name=\"Ch355s2\"><\/a>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Licence to ply.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0No boat shall ply for hire upon any ferry declared by the Minister to be a public ferry, otherwise than under a licence from the Minister or any person or authority appointed by the Minister for that purpose but subject to such conditions and exceptions as the Minister may specify.<\/p>\n<p class=\"L8\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Level-Iblue\"><a name=\"Ch355s3\"><\/a>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Licence to prescribe conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The licence in respect of each ferry boat shall prescribe the conditions upon and subject to which the licence shall be held.<\/p>\n<p class=\"L8\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Level-Iblue\"><a name=\"Ch355s4\"><\/a>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Offence and penalty.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The owner and every person in charge of a boat, other than a licensed ferry boat, plying for hire upon a public ferry commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding 100 shillings for each journey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"L8\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Level-Iblue\"><a name=\"Ch355s5\"><\/a>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Special flag.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(1) A special flag may be prescribed by the Minister to be carried by licensed ferry boats.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(2) Upon such flag being prescribed, the owner and every person in charge of a boat, other than a licensed ferry boat, flying that flag commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of 100 shillings for each day upon which that flag is flown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"L8\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Level-Iblue\"><a name=\"Ch355s6\"><\/a>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Forfeiture of licence.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The licensee of any licensed ferry boat shall be liable to the forfeiture of his or her licence by the licensing authority upon a contravention of any of the conditions upon which the licence is held.<\/p>\n<p class=\"L8\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Level-Iblue\"><a name=\"Ch355s7\"><\/a>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fees and auctioning of right to run ferry.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Minister, or any person or authority appointed by the Minister for that purpose but subject to such conditions and exceptions as the Minister may specify, may prescribe generally or specially the fee to be charged for each licence or may direct that the right to run ferry boats be put up to public auction or dealt with otherwise.<\/p>\n<table class=\"tableborder\" width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"3\" cellpadding=\"3\">\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"font-size: 12px\">\n<td
