CHAPTER 1
CONSTITUTION (CONSEQUENTIAL PROVISIONS) ACT.\n<\/p>\n

\n

Commencement<\/i>: 22 September, 1995.\n<\/p>\n

<\/b>   An Act to make provision for necessary and practical measures for giving effect to the Constitution and for other rel<\/p>\n

\n

<\/a>1.<\/b>   Leadership code of conduct.\n<\/p>\n

<\/b>   (1) Pending the establishment of a leadership code of conduct by Parliament under article 233 of the Constitution, the leadership code of conduct existing under the Leadership Code Act, immediately before the coming into force of the Constitution shall, as modified by article 273 of the Constitution, apply as the leadership code of conduct under the Constitution.\n<\/p>\n

<\/b>   (2) Until Parliament prescribes any other authority to be responsible for enforcing the leadership code of conduct, the Inspectorate of Government shall be responsible for enforcing the code.<\/p>\n

\n

<\/a>2.<\/b>   Existing institutions and bodies to continue.\n<\/p>\n

<\/b>   Subject to this Act, where the Constitution provides for the establishment of any institution or body to perform any functions under the Constitution, then until the appointment and assumption of office of the governing body of that institution or body, the corresponding institution or body in existence immediately before the coming into force of that institution or body shall continue in existence and shall perform the functions of the first-mentioned institution or body.<\/p>\n

\n

<\/a>3.<\/b>   Pending cases before courts.\n<\/p>\n

<\/b>   Any proceedings pending before any court immediately before the coming into force of the Constitution, and continued under article 280 of the Constitution, may be continued and completed by the court as composed at the time of the coming into force of the Constitution and shall be subject to the rules of procedure applicable to that court at that time.<\/p>\n

\n

<\/a>4.<\/b>   Pending matters.\n<\/p>\n

<\/b>   Where any pending matter is continued under article 280 of the Constitution, the matter may be continued and completed by the body which at the coming into force of the Constitution was seized with that matter.<\/p>\n

\n

<\/a>5.<\/b>   Construction of enactments relating to immigration.\n<\/p>\n

<\/b>   The Immigration Act and any other enactment relating to immigration, other than the Constitution, shall have effect with such modification as may be necessary to give effect to sections 2(1) and (2) and 3(1) and (2) of the Immigration Act.\n<\/p>\n
